So, after almost a week of the new writing schedule, I’m loving it. I’m still not really a morning person. I’ve built in a half hour just so I can hit the snooze button. However, once I’m up, showered and otherwise ready for the work day, I sit down at the laptop and pound out 2000 words in about an hour and a half. The same feeling I had the first day at the day job after switching things up has continued. There was one day where I was thisclose to crawling under my desk and napping a la George Costanza. I remembered after I got home and fell asleep on the couch the allergy pill I’d taken earlier in the day. I’ve since avoided allergy pills 🙂
This weekend was all kinds of relaxing as well. I went to see Red 2 (*loved*!), made cheese & sausage calzones completely from scratch (I’m totally altering the filling recipe next time), and spent a good chunk of time knitting. All of this allowed me to come back Monday morning, if not exactly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to get writing. I only spent about fifteen minutes procrastinating compared to my usual few hours. The desire to get to the day job at almost the same time every day really does help with the motivation! Also: guilt-free reading time at the end of the day.
